New ways to connect physical and virtual interaction
Fab Lab Metaverse
The augmented reality, VR, and 3D world also holds the promise of porting children to new environments that they could never have explored or visited. For critical thinking, students can solve real problems, enter a makers’ fair and show their wares not only in their school, but to a broader community.
What Is The Fab Lab Metaverse?
Merging Physical and Digital Worlds
The metaverse is upon us
A Fab Lab Metaverse refers to a virtual world or platform that is specifically designed for digital fabrication and making. It is a space where individuals can access digital fabrication tools and machines, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines, to create physical objects from digital designs. The Fab Lab Metaverse enables users to work together in a collaborative virtual environment, regardless of their physical location. In a Fab Lab Metaverse, makers, designers, and creatives can share ideas, knowledge, and resources, and explore new ways of making and fabrication. This type of metaverse is a place where creativity and innovation meet technology, offering a unique and dynamic experience for makers to explore and experiment.
As technology advances to bring us new immersive and imaginary worlds, we educate children and prepare teachers to meet these new opportunities. We offer a path for bringing best educational practices into the metaverse.
Technology-enabled learning environments allow less experienced learners to access and participate in specialized communities of practice, graduating to more complex activities and deeper participation as they gain the experience needed to become expert members of the community.

The Metaverse will be a creative platform
Students can become creators, even as young children, who paint and compose with the top teachers and artists to assist them. They can even piece together history from fragments and craft their own story behind the Greek myths. From their own classroom, guided by teachers, the metaverse offers a hybrid world of enormous potential if it is done right. And to do that right, teachers and caregivers will play a key role as the guides to faraway places and immersive learning.
Digital Use Divide
While essential, closing the digital divide alone will not transform learning. We must also close the digital use divide by ensuring all students understand how to use technology as a tool to engage in creative, productive, lifelong learning rather than simply consuming passive content.
“Experience the power of collaboration and innovation in our Fab Lab Metaverse. Join a global community of makers and designers in a shared virtual space, where you can bring your ideas to life using cutting-edge digital fabrication technology. With access to advanced tools and resources, our Fab Lab Metaverse enables you to turn your dreams into reality, no matter where you are located. Join us today and be part of a new era of co-creation and problem-solving.”
The 7 Principles of Game-Based Learning
Everyone is a participant – A shared culture and practice exists where everyone contributes. This often means that different students contribute different types of expertise.
Challenge – Challenge is constant. A “need to know” challenges students to solve a problem whose resources have been placed just out of reach.
Learning happens by doing – Learning is active and experiential. Students learn by proposing, testing, playing with, and validating theories about the world.
Feedback is immediate and ongoing – Students receive ongoing feedback on their progress, learning, and assessment goals.
Failure is reframed as “iteration” – Opportunities exist for students and teachers to learn through failure. All learning experiences should embrace a process of testing and iteration.
Everything is interconnected – Students can share their work, skill, and knowledge with others across networks, groups, and communities.
It feels like play – Learning experiences are engaging, student centered, and organized to support inquiry and creativity.

We teach kids how to design 3d models, then how to import them into the metaverse and then collaborate on them.
